General

What is Minter?

Minter is a planet-scale civilizational Minecraft SMP built on a globe made of 12 regional pentagonal tiles. Players build empires, enter architectural building competitions, defend raidable claims with custom block HP, and engage in player-driven politics and warfare.

How is Minter different from regular survival servers?

Most servers force a choice between pure anarchy (zero protection, nothing lasts) and pacifist SMPs (invincible claims, zero stakes). Minter bridges this gap: land can be protected, but nothing is invincible. Protected blocks have custom Hit Points (HP) and claims require daily upkeep, creating high-stakes warfare, meaningful diplomacy, and real civilization dynamics.

Is Minter similar to Minto?

Yes. Minter is directly inspired by the original Minto civilization experience. It reimagines the core dynamics—geopolitical territory control, raidable block-HP claims, building economy, and high-stakes drama—modernized for Minecraft 1.21.1 with Paper performance, Squaremap web map integration, and cross-play for Java and Bedrock.

What is the live map and how do I view it?

Minter provides a real-time web map powered by Squaremap at https://map.minter.world (accessible on the site at /map). It displays the 12-tile globe, Overworld, Nether, and End dimensions, active player locations, ruins, and established claims (with an approximate 1-hour grace period for newly placed anchors).

Claims & Raiding

How do claims work?

Claims are established by placing a Respawn Anchor obtained from Nether ruins. Placing an anchor grants every block within a 96-block radius custom Hit Points (HP). Claims can be expanded by placing Lodestone Nodes (also 96-block radius). Claim owners can manage permissions, cycle access with paper (Private, Trusted, Public), and collect taxes on buildings within their territory.

Can players raid other bases?

Yes. Minter features raidable claims. While protected blocks take many hits from melee tools or TNT cannons before breaking, they can be breached. If attackers break through defenses and destroy the central Respawn Anchor, the entire claim collapses. Upgrading anchors and surrounding them with Lodestone nodes can grant inner zones invulnerability (Tier IV/V).

How does claim upkeep work?

Claims require emerald upkeep to maintain their protection tier. Tier Ø is the starter tier (350 HP). Tier I requires 48 emeralds/day (750 HP), Tier II requires 96 emeralds/day (1,250 HP), and Tier III requires 144 emeralds/day (1,750 HP). Emeralds are deposited directly into the anchor menu by right-clicking it.

What happens when upkeep runs out?

When claim upkeep runs out, protection deactivates. Blocks lose their bonus HP and can be broken like standard wilderness blocks. Keeping an anchor stocked with emeralds through trade, building rewards, and taxation is essential for survival.

Joining & Compatibility

Which Minecraft versions are supported?

Minter runs on Minecraft 1.21.1 and supports both Java Edition and Bedrock Edition players natively. Java players can connect using modern 1.21.x releases, and Bedrock players can connect from Windows, iOS, Android, and consoles.

How do I join the server?

On Java Edition, open Multiplayer, click 'Add Server', enter 'minter.world' as the Server Address, and connect. On Bedrock Edition, open the Servers tab, scroll down to 'Add Server', enter 'minter.world' as the address and leave the port as 19132 (the default).

Rules & Community

Where can I read the server rules?

The complete rules are published at https://minter.world/rules. Key rules include zero tolerance for cheating/hacks, maintaining a respectful environment for all ages, welcoming new players, no exploitative alt-account abuse, and no low-effort insiding/coercing beginners to bypass anchor protections.

Economy & World

What happens to my character when I log off?

When you disconnect, your character leaves behind a physical 'log-off head' block on the ground. If you log off in the wilderness, any player can break your head, killing your character and taking your inventory. If you log off inside an upkept claim, your head is protected by the claim's block HP.

How does the building competition work?

Placing a Beehive block creates a 3D building plot. Players can click 'Rate building' in the menu to have an automated architectural scanner evaluate their build. Higher-ranked buildings earn daily energy payouts and emeralds. Owners can also use '/employ' to hire other players to work on the build.

What is local energy and why do crops stop growing?

On Minter, crop growth and mob spawning consume regional energy, displayed as a lightning bolt in the player tablist. When local energy depletes, crops halt and mobs stop spawning. Energy items from buildings and deepslate mining can be right-clicked to restore +30 seconds of runtime to surrounding farms.
